Community advisory board
The Community Advisory Board (CAB) supports UC Davis Health System's programs and serves in an advisory capacity to the hospital director and administration addressing matters concerning health care needs and hospital expansion plans. The Community Relations office serves as the liaison to the CAB and UC Davis Health System and is the location for all correspondence, communications and records.
The CAB's regular meetings are held the first Tuesday of every other month beginning in July. The CAB is comprised of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 members. Interested citizens, health-care providers, consumers, former and/or current patients and other community members make up the advisory board. Each CAB member is required to serve as a member of at least one committee. The committees and a brief description of each are described below:
Executive committee
The executive committee is made up of the CAB Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Committee Chairs of the Patient Care, Planning and Nominating Committees. This committee meets on the alternate month from CAB meetings and is responsible for setting the meeting agenda, recommending speakers, reviewing business items and representing the CAB at select community events.
Patient care committee
This committee assists the UC Davis Health System in providing an evaluation of services for patients, both hospital based and at over 30 primary care network clinics. In recent years, this committee has focused on interpreting services, geographic managed care, patient satisfaction, specialty clinics, spiritual care and outreach to a diversity of constituent groups.
Planning committee
This committee studies and makes recommendations regarding plans, expansions and modifications of both the physical plant and program development at UC Davis Medical Center. Emphasis is placed on UC Davis Health System's economic impact in the community. Review of the Long Range Development Plans at the conceptual stage and monitoring throughout the process have been a vital role of this committee. The Campus Urban Wild Life Preserve, traffic flow around the medical center, the Transportation Management Plan and neighborhood concerns are discussed in the planning committee.
Nominating committee
This committee is responsible for overseeing the nomination process for new and returning advisory board members. This committee also annually recommends the officers of the CAB. This committee reviews the Bylaws and makes recommendations on appropriate amendments.
